Russell County Jail Roster
The official Russell County inmate records channel is the Russell County Sheriff's Office In Custody Search, an OCV feed connected to the sheriff website and the Russell County Sheriff AL mobile app. The active public feed is published at the RCSO In Custody Search feed. During the May 27, 2026 research pass, it returned public roster entries with names, mugshots, booking dates, demographic fields, inmate IDs, arresting-agency fields, charges, statute codes, bond types, and bond amounts. That feed count should not be treated as the jail's live population, because the source did not state a retention rule and older timestamped entries appeared in the data.
Russell County Jail, also identified in official phone material as the Prentiss L. Griffith Detention Center, is operated by the Russell County Sheriff's Office. The Corrections Division says it provides jail services for all law enforcement agencies in Russell County, so arrests by sheriff's deputies, Phenix City Police, and other local agencies may route into the county jail when a person is not released through a citation, city process, bond, or court order. Sentenced Alabama prisoners are not searched in the county roster after transfer. Federal and immigration custody are separate systems as well.

Use Russell County Inmate Search
Start with the official RCSO website or the Russell County Sheriff AL app rather than a commercial lookup page. The sheriff manifest labels the feature "In Custody Search" and sets search and sort controls for the feed-list component. The direct feed is useful when the rendered site is slow because browser search can still locate a last name, first name, or inmate ID in the visible data.
- Open the Russell County Sheriff's Office site or app and choose In Custody Search.
- Review the list sorted by booking or feed date, with newer entries generally first.
- Use the available search field to filter by a name. In the raw feed, use the browser find tool for a last name or inmate ID.
- Open the entry and compare name, booking date, demographics, charges, and bond fields before relying on a match.
- If no match appears, call the jail or search ADOC, BOP, ICE, VINELink, or court records based on the custody path.
A missed Russell County inmate search does not always mean the person was never arrested. A new booking may not be entered yet, a name may be spelled differently, a person may have been released, or the person may have moved to ADOC after sentencing. Federal pretrial custody can also sit outside the BOP locator until designation, and immigration custody belongs in ICE ODLS.

The RCSO feed exposes fewer traditional form labels than a court database, but the manifest confirms a search control and a sort control. It also shows how the roster component is meant to display public jail records. Use the table as a practical map of the official search channel, not as a promise that every browser view will label fields the same way.

Russell County Inmate Profile
A Russell County inmate profile is strongest for booking facts and charge-level jail data. It is not a court docket. Formal case action, hearing settings, filed documents, and final dispositions are handled through the Russell County Circuit Clerk and Alacourt. The public jail profile helps confirm that a person was booked into the jail feed, which agency field is attached, and what bond information the jail is displaying.

Russell County inmate records are split by agency. The county jail roster covers the local detention facility and people the sheriff is publicly listing. The Alabama Department of Corrections locator covers currently incarcerated state prisoners after transfer. BOP covers federal sentenced custody from 1982 forward, while ICE ODLS covers people currently in ICE custody or in CBP custody more than 48 hours. VINELink is a notification channel, not a full record file.

Russell County Jail Facilities

Phenix City Police has a public safety building and short-term arrest-processing function, but the city source reviewed did not publish a public jail roster, bed count, commissary system, or long-term detention rules.

Russell County Booking Process
Official Russell County pages do not publish a full intake checklist, but the roster and phone rules show the sequence that matters for record access. A person is arrested or served with a warrant, transported to a law-enforcement facility or jail, processed for identity and booking data, photographed, and entered into the jail system if held. After booking is complete and the person is housed, RCSO says phone access is provided from telephones in housing areas.
The roster record begins when the jail creates or publishes the booking entry. Sample entries show a booking date, demographics, Inmate ID, arresting agency, charges, statute codes, classifications, and bond blocks. Bond status is not always a simple dollar amount. The inspected feed included BOND, CASH, NOBD, and OR labels. A no-bond entry or outside hold can keep a person in custody even when another charge has a dollar amount.
Booking terms: Booking is jail intake, a detainer is another agency's hold request, and bond is the release condition set through court authority.
Russell County Visitation Rules
The official RCSO visitation page sets several local limits. Each eligible inmate receives one 20-minute visit every two weeks. No inmate incarcerated less than 14 days is permitted a visit. The inmate must complete a pre-approved visitation form listing up to six people, and only listed people may visit except attorneys and clergy. Anyone incarcerated in the Russell County Jail within the previous two years is denied.

RCSO says inmates receive telephone access after completion of booking, phones are located in housing areas, and incoming calls are not accepted except voicemail messages to approved inmates. Three-way calls are prohibited. Commissary is made available once a week and ordered electronically by inmates. RCSO did not publish official mail rules or deposit-method fees in the pages reviewed, so mail or money questions should be confirmed with the jail before sending items.
